In this edition of our LeadingResponse Meet the Team spotlight, we’re featuring Allison Anderson, Marketing Specialist. Allison is instrumental in turning strategy into action, helping campaigns move from idea to execution with precision and purpose.
Let’s take a closer look at the work she does and what makes her such a valuable part of the B2B Marketing team.
What would you change about yourself if you could?
Something I would change about myself, if I could, is how reserved I am. I tend to play it safe, but I’m working on taking more risks! It’s worth it to take a chance and know the outcome than never know at all. Of course, that’s easier said than done, and it takes courage to take risks. With risk comes the possibility of success or failure, and I think avid risk-takers aren’t afraid of failing. Accepting failure is also something I’m trying to become more comfortable with.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s in business administration. As someone who was born a Gator, this was a goal I had set from a very, very young age, and it meant the world to finally cross that stage and get my degree!
What makes you laugh the most?
I read this as who makes me laugh the most. I feel most relaxed around my friends and family, and they know how to make me giggle. The people I surround myself with tend to be goofy and lighthearted, which I view as very important. Two of my closest friends from high school make me laugh the absolute hardest, I mean so hard you can’t see because you have tears in your eyes, and you can’t breathe because you’re cramping from how hard you’re laughing.
What did you want to be when you were small?
I wanted to be an artist. I loved doing anything fine arts-related, from drawing to painting to sketching. When I was 8, one of my art pieces was selected for a Sarasota County art show, and it won an award. To this day, I have it framed in my house. That really blew my ego up!
What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
I LOVE watching SEC college football, especially the Florida Gators (Go Gators!). And my favorite sport is long-distance biking and/or spin! I love long-distance biking because it feels so freeing. When you bike fast enough on a trail, it feels like you are flying, and with working remotely, it can feel so freeing after being inside all day. On usual days after work, I’ll do around 15 miles and on weekends I’ll do 20-25 miles!
More recently, I have gotten into doing spin class for convenience (and because it is in the AC), and I have really enjoyed it! The AC, color-changing lights, and fun music are totally my scene. Two very different sides of the same coin, and I love both of them!
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
My brother and I love to sing “Walking on the Moon” by the Police! In college, we always went to this bar called 80s Bar, a small dive with free karaoke every night. We would sing so many different 80s and 90s songs: The Police, The Smiths, The Cure, Joy Division, The Cranberries, Echo & the Bunnymen. It was a blast, and I always think about this time when I listen to any of these artists.
Instead of wondering “what if everything doesn’t work out,” I’ve been wondering “but what if everything does work out?”
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
My close friends and family know me as Alli. I’ve also been called Al, Alsal, and Als by others in my life! It is funny when you have a nickname, and then those close to you somehow find a way to find an even shorter version of that. Some of them are goofy, but I love every single one of them.
What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Moving cross-country from Florida to Seattle with my family in the middle of 9th grade. This was the toughest journey I have ever endured in my life, but I would never take it back. It taught me to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Is your glass half full or half empty?
To me, I try to have the outlook on life that my glass is half full. There is always a possibility and potential! Having an optimistic outlook on life is the foundation of a happy life. And boy, do I live a happy life 😊 Instead of wondering “what if everything doesn’t work out?”, I’ve been wondering “but what if everything does work out?”.
Thank you!
