Give me your 30-second elevator speech.
My name is Nerea Guerricaechebarria…yes, my last name has 18 letters in it. I just use the last name of Guerrica. I don’t have a hyphen in my name, I just decided that is where it should end 😊. I have been working at LeadingResponse since 2002 and have learned the business working in several different departments. I am now a proud member of the Account Management team ensuring our clients get their campaigns running and staying happy.
I love learning new things and always love the chance to share my ideas and experience to help strengthen our teams. The best thing about our business is how much change and enhancements come our way, which brings new knowledge and brings more ideas to be able to help our company grow. I love how LeadingResponse is open to new ideas and concepts.
What is your biggest fear?
Don’t make fun of me…my biggest fear are frogs! I completely understand that they don’t typically hurt you and I should have greater fears, but you will never see me run as fast as I would if one comes near me.
What did you want to be when you were small?
Have you ever seen the movie Working Girl? I understand little girls should want to be princesses, doctors, etc., but after watching that movie, I dreamed of working in an office downtown, staring out the window at the big city. I loved the thought that someone can be heard and be able to grow to reach their dreams.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
I know this sounds cliché, but my kids are definitely my proudest accomplishment. I had my son in 2005 and then went through the toughest part of my life. I would have been completely lost without him. I look at him today and am amazed at how good a person he is and how much he cares. He is honestly the best person I know.
My daughter, who was born in 2022, yes, 17 years in between, is filled with sugar and spice. She is my favorite girl in the whole wide world. She amazes me every single day with her extreme caring nature and also her persistence to get what she wants. I was terrified of having a girl, but she makes it pretty easy.
I give my life to my job and to my kids. I always try to make sure I am someone they can look up to. They have both made me become a better person because I have so much hope for them to be the best people they can be and have someone to show them the right ways in life. The world can be a scary place and all I can do is whatever I can to make sure my kids don’t add to the scary world 😊.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
My mother is a long-time fan of Steve Perry, which she played just about every day of my childhood. It is hard to not enjoy and want to sing along to his music. Any time their music comes on wherever I am, it is really difficult to stop me from wanting to sing. Any song from Journey does it!
Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
Wow! You are really getting to know me now. I am somehow having frequent movie references, but have you seen the movie Fried Green Tomatoes? I am sure you have! When my family watched that movie, Kathy Bates slammed the car in the parking lot and called herself “Towanda.” Apparently, my family thought I had a little crazy side as a kid and gave me the nickname of “Nawanna.” It stuck!
What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?
Unfortunately, I am a klutz, so any game I play, I would probably end up falling to the floor. I love to watch a sport that most people have never heard of, called Jai Alai. My father was a professional player and it comforts me and sends me back to my childhood every time I watch it. Wish they had more frontons!
Do you like or dislike surprises? Why or why not?
This is actually a funny question for me. I lean more towards the dislike side of surprises when it comes to TV shows/movies. If I have the opportunity to look something up online of what will happen, I will probably do it. It annoys my son to no end, but it is hard for me not to. I still love to see how something plays out, but I like it better when I know what is coming.
For other things, I am all for a surprise European vacation 😊.
What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?
Skydiving and white-water rafting.
Is your glass half full or half empty?
I think I feel both at different points in my life, but overall, I believe I am a glass-half-full type of person. I think we all have to have hope in our lives. A hope that everything can get better!
Thank you!
