Right now, the global sleep apnea device market is anything but sleepy.
A Grand View Research report published in March valued it at $5.9 billion in 2019. In addition, the market is expected to experience a compound annual growth rate of 7.4% between now and 2027.
The report further notes that awareness of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), the prevalence of sleep apnea worldwide, the aging of the global population, and a growing number of insurance companies covering sleep apnea devices, are all forces shaping this rapidly-expanding market.

Close to 18 million people suffer from OSA. In fact, it’s the most common sleep disorder, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. And that number will only increase as our population continues to age.
According to the American Psychiatric Association, 10 to 20 percent of patients tell their primary care doctor they’re having serious sleep issues. What’s more, 30 percent say they’re experiencing insomnia. And the Mayo Clinic evaluates and treats nearly 60,000 people with sleep disorders each year. Dentists typically recommend this if patients will not use a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine to help them breathe at night; or cannot tolerate the device for various reasons.
